| The Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County is proud to have the opportunity to offer The Heart of Gold Scholarship. This $5,000 award is designed to recognize a youth volunteer who displays outstanding involvement in volunteerism. The Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County wants to support and encourage their continuing education.
"It is an exciting opportunity to be able to recognize and award an outstanding student volunteer in such a meaningful way,” said Roberta Eichler, Executive Director of The Volunteer Center. “The Scholarship demonstrates our support and appreciation to a student who has exemplarily devoted his or her most valuable resource, time, to serving others for the benefit of the community.”
To be eligible for The Heart of Gold Scholarship a student must be a high school senior who is a resident of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan or Stamford, and will be attending college in the fall. The student must be nominated by his/her school guidance counselor or teacher, the nonprofit agency at which he/she volunteers, or the religious institution he/she attends.
