Item Donation Program

The Volunteer Center maintains the Item Donation Program for the equitable and timely allocation of donated goods from businesses and individuals to nonprofit organizations.

Donors

Do you have unwanted items? The Volunteer Center can help.

We usually distribute a weekly list of donated items to local nonprofit agencies, who use the items for their agency use or for the people they help within the community. Examples of items: household furniture, appliances, office furniture, etc. We do not accept clothing or toys.

Agencies accepting clothing and toys would include:

  • Person-to-Person 203-655-0048
  • Neighbor-to-Neighbor 203-622-9208

To use our free item donation program:

  • E-mail a detailed list of items, contact information, phone and optional photos to stefanie@ucanhelp.org - make sure you indicate Item Donation in the subject bar.
  • Approved agencies are sent the Item Donation list weekly and will contact you for more information if they are interested in your item. They will set up an appointment to pick up the item(s) from you.
  • The receiving agency is responsible for sending you a thank you letter regarding your item(s), which you can use for tax purposes.
  • You must let us know when an agency takes an item and it is no longer available.
