Randi-Jean G. Hedin

Combining a twenty-year legal career and extensive experience serving on nonprofit Boards and committees in a variety of capacities, Randi-Jean G. Hedin offers a wealth of knowledge and practical insight into nonprofit corporate governance compliance. With a first-hand, practical understanding of nonprofit Board operations, Ms. Hedin also has the legal background required to help nonprofit Boards achieve corporate accountability and transparency. She is well-positioned to help nonprofits navigate the duties and responsibilities of individual Board members and Executive Directors and identify best practices related to corporate governance.

 

Randi currently serves on the national Board of buildOn, a national not-for-profit organization based in Stamford, CT, and is one of the founding members of the Seattle Chapter. She serves on buildOn's Corporate Governance and Development Committees.

She also serves on the Board of Literacy Council of Seattle. Randi also serves on The Overlake School’s Diversity Committee in Redmond, WA. Prior to moving to the Seattle area in 2008, Ms. Hedin served as a Board member of the Literacy Volunteers–Stamford/ Greenwich, Inc., where she Chaired the Board’s Governance Committee and was a member of the Nominating and Development Committees. She was also a member of the Board of Trustees of The Darien Library, Inc., and served on its Law and Policy and Audit Committees.  

 

Previously, Randi was also a member of the Board of Directors of The Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County, Inc., including as its Chair for 3 years. She also served as Chair of its Advisory Board, Heart of Gold Dinner, and Stamford Volunteer Day. In addition, she was a member of the Volunteer Center’s Governance and Development Committees.   She also served on the Board of Center for Hope, a bereavement counseling agency based in Darien. She facilitated its subsequent merger with Family Centers of Greenwich, CT.

 

Randi currently serves as Chief Administrative Officer for GMP Proprietary Trading, a trading firm based in the Seattle area. Prior to that, Randi served as a Partner with the Corporate Finance and Securities Practice of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, in Stamford, CT, focusing on a wide variety of securities law and corporate governance matters for the Firm’s clients.

 
Randi earned her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and her Bachelor’s Degree from Barnard College, Columbia University. She is a member of the Connecticut, New York, and District of Columbia Bars. Ms. Hedin is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the American Bar Association, and Connecticut Bar Association.
