Biography

Lisa Ruggiero manages volunteer services at Silver Hill Hospital, a private, nonprofit psychiatric hospital located on 43 acres in New Canaan, CT.

In her role, Lisa recruits, places, trains, and supports volunteers, who perform jobs ranging from floral arranger to medical library attendant, as well as creative writing workshop leader to recovery group facilitator for adults and adolescents with psychiaric and/or addictive disorders. As a member of the marketing and community outreach department, Lisa collaborates on programs that attract supporters and engage the hospital's growing network of alumni, many of whom wish to volunteer in order to "give back what was given to them while at Silver Hill."

Lisa was previously at Family Centers, Inc., where she held positions as the director of workplace services and communication director. In the latter role, Lisa's responsibilities included outreach to community groups and corporations often with the intention to recruit volunteers. She was also a volunteer children's group facilitator for Family Centers' Den for Grieving Kids program and currently serves as a volunteer board member for the Fairfield/Westchester chapters of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and the Public Relations Society of America.

Prior to Family Centers, Lisa worked as a corporate recruiter at Bankers Trust Company and Booz, Allen and Hamilton in New York City.

She holds a Masters of Social Work from Washington University in St.  Louis
